Chasing the Dream

Cherry Eusan (IAFT acting student)

Cherry Mae Chuca Eula (or some may know her by her nickname, Cherry Pie, or screen name, Cherry Eusan) is an Acting student here in the International Academy of Film and Television Cebu. She was born in Palo, Leyte, Philippines and is the 4th child among the five children of Mr. Bobbie Jimmy and Mrs. Ma. Thelma Eula.

She always had the dream to be an actress when she was younger. She tried to build her acting career off through TV hosting. But she couldn’t find a class for hosting so she enrolled in an acting class to try her luck there.

She got lucky all right because for just three months in acting school, she had starred in eight short films. She landed lead roles four times and as a supporting actress four times also. She was nominated as Best Supporting Actress in the film “PAGHILOM” by Charmain Salvador during the awards night of 2015 Sinulog Film Festival. So far she’s been doing a great job in her chosen craft and felt so blessed and thankful for a flourishing career.

You can follow her on Facebook and Instagram. She also have a Youtube channel.

We have asked our alumnus about what they have to say about IAFT on our blog page. Now, we want to hear what our ongoing students have to say about IAFT Cebu.

What have you been up to lately?
I’ve been busy memorizing & rehearsing my scripts for the Halfway show, voice class, Acting for TV & film class, Shizu’s (IAFT student) thesis film.

Why did you decide to pursue acting?
Because for me honestly, if I’m successful in my acting career, I’ll become rich and with this I would be able to extend helping not only my family but also to the poor people who works very hard to provide what their family needs everyday yet not enough.

Why did you choose to study in Cebu ?
First, this is just a 6 hour ride from Tacloban City by boat and 45 minutes by plane. Second, this is the right place to start my acting career. Third, there’s less traffic. Fourth, There’s a lot of beautiful islands, a lot of interesting, exciting, extreme , unforgettable , romantic, crazy activities to do. A lot of hotels, restaurants, good food, very talented people, good weather, safe and relaxing place to stay.

How did you learn about IAFT and what made you choose IAFT for your acting education?
Through internet search and also one of my friends knows IAFT and she told me this is the best school.
What made me choose you? First, THE SMILE…it means a lot to me.. Second, its because of the people who entertained me, assisted me, treated me very well. And they’ve clearly answered all my queries.

Why did you choose IAFT Cebu over the other campuses?
Because I like the environment. I feel comfortable, safe, complete facilities, and its an art school where i could possibly meet creative, talented, professional, well educated foreign and local people.

What do you enjoy most about acting?
Doing the class exercises. Make comments and make fun with my classmates and teacher.

Performing live in front of the audience. Hehe

What part of the film making/acting process do you find most rewarding?
When you’re watching yourself on-screen and my head goes “Is that really me?” and the viewers liked it and they would come to me and say “GOOD JOB” !

Thesis project of Shizu Ogihara and Christian Lat.

What are your plans for the future?
I’m scheduled for a new workshop for ACTING “again” hosting, modeling, dancing and make up for 4 weeks.
