Filmmaking school an interesting place to study
A filmmaking school is always going to be an interesting place to study, no more so than in Hong Kong. Our student lounge looks like a meeting of the UN, with students from all over the world in attendance. It’s a great mixture of creative and techy types discussing script ideas and figuring out how to turn two skateboards and a tripod into a makeshift dolly.
Han Czar Fransisco is coming to the end of his studies with IAFT HK , and is busy working on his his final thesis film for the Diploma in Filmmaking /Pearson BTEC Level 5 HND Diploma in Creative Media Production (Moving Image) QCF. We asked him to tell us about his experience with IAFT HK.
Why did you apply for the Pearson BTEC Level 5 HND Diploma in Creative Media Production (Moving Image) QCF with IAFT Hong Kong?
I applied for the Diploma with IAFT Hong Kong because I wanted a hands on approach in learning filmmaking and IAFT offers just that.
What was your favourite part of the experience?
My favorite part of the experience was when we are out shooting our own films. As a class, we helped each other out on our shoots and we develop stronger friendships due to that.
What have you learnt?
I learnt every aspect of filmmaking from pre-production to production to post-production to marketing/showcasing your film. I got to experience how a film is made from start to finish.
What’s the most exciting film project you have worked on and why?
Two projects come to mind. First is the promotional video with Samsonite because it was just a very cool experience getting to work with a real client. Second is a music video project, that was my first time making a music video and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Are you still thinking about pursuing a career in film?
What would you say to anyone thinking about applying this year?
Don’t ever be late to Steven’s class!
