Heneral Luna officially selected for Oscars 2016
Great news for the IAFT alumni community and for the Philippine’s most critically acclaimed film “Heneral Luna”.
Look’s like the general will be sent to battle in the 2016 Academy Awards as the movie is selected to be the Philippines’ official entry for the best Foreign Language Film Category! This exciting announcement have been posted on Heneral Luna’s official Facebook page.
Heneral Luna was written and directed by Jerrold Tarog and IAFT graduates, Daphne O. Chiu and Marvene Rom C. Munda are part of the team behind this brilliant film. John Arcillia plays the role of Antoni Luna, a Filipino general who fought in the Philippine–American War. He was also regarded as the most brilliant of the Filipino military officers during the war.
Both Daphne and Marvene graduated from the Diploma Filmmaking Program in IAFT Cebu during the December 2008 intake. Asides from them, the film school has produced award winning alumni that have worked alongside famous filmmakers and have their films featured in prestigious film festivals around the world. One could say that IAFT is the place to be when you’re looking to sky-rocket your career in filmmaking. Congratulations on this achievement guys! IAFT is proud of you!
