HONG KONG COLLEGE STUDENTS ADVERTISEMENT SHORT FILM COMPETITION
The Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong presented the Hong Kong College Students Advertisement Short Film Competition on 4th November 2013. The event was held at the Hong Kong Design Institute in Tiu Keng Leng.
Our school was invited to be one of the guest speakers of the presentation, where I volunteered to assist and take photos at the event.
This may seem like an easy job, but a lot of preparation had to be in place before we went to the event. Researching the topic of microfilm, as well as knowing about the event’s participants were some of the preparations required.
I was assigned to research the topic of microfilm, and learnt where it originated, the length, and the budget for microfilm. I was not aware all this microfilm related information before, and now I can apply this new knowledge I have gained to film my own smart phone videos!
Over 100 college students and representatives from 12 companies attended the event; our Executive Director Chris Ng was invited to be one of the guest speakers.
I was surprised that so many students were interested in participating in the competition, and that there were a lot of students in Hong Kong whom were interested in short films and filmmaking. The students had the opportunity to work with 12 companies to create a short film advertisement. The many students who participated gained extremely valuable experience in doing so.
I thought the short film competition was very informative and organized, and I felt very lucky to meet many organizers from many industries. I highly recommend people who want to make short films and also work in advertisement industries to enroll in this competition next time!
