CREATING A SHORT FILM

IAFT HONG KONG ONLY – This course is designed to help participants learn the art of cinematic storytelling by shooting and editing their own film.
Participants will learn the basics of camera work, audio recording, directing, pre-production planning, on-set procedures and safety, and editing. They will get hands-on experience shooting a short film as part of a small crew, with the opportunity to practice different crew roles. At the end, they will take home a rendered film to proudly show family and friends!

Who is it for?

13 -17 year olds with a passion for filmmaking.

CREATIVE WRITING

IAFT HONG KONG ONLY – This course is designed to stimulate storytelling talent. It explores the main categories of creative writing and literary genres, and demonstrates how to choose a category or form to
work within and write compelling pieces.
Through required writing each week, participants will learn about:

  • Points of view in creative writing and their role in storytelling
  • Imagery in fiction and poetry
  • Unfolding a story in playwriting
  • Developing character, plot, dialogue and structure in different forms and genres

FILM AND TELEVISION ACTING

IAFT HONG KONG ONLY – Television Acting for Teens is designed to grant participants with an overview of what it means to act in front of the camera.

Participants learn the fundamentals of acting for film and television.  They analyze scripts and evaluate concepts that help them create credible characters and in doing so, gain the understanding of character development, use of voice, and expressive movement as it pertains to quality acting.

Through the course, participants will:

  • Analyze professional comedy and drama scripts for performance.
  • Participate in exercises that assist in their development of quality and in-depth characters.
  • Rehearse and perform script material on camera.

13 -17 year olds with a passion for filmmaking.

Date:  23 May 2017 – 6 June 2017

ACTING FOR TV/ FILM (July)

IAFT HONG KONG ONLY – This course is designed to build confidence and develop participants’ interest in acting.   The focus throughout the course is on personal expression and creativity.  As you gain trust in yourself and their talents, you are helped to feel good about putting yourself in front of people or a camera.

The curriculum includes character development, voice and speech improvement, movement training, and improvisation.

Sign up for all four days over 2 weeks a fully-immersive learning experience, or just a week to fit with your other summer holiday plans.

13 -17 years old with a passion for acting.

When is it?

Week 1:  4 & 6 July 2017  (10am – 5pm, Lunch:  1:00 pm – 2:00 pm)
