TVB Promotional Event

Last week, I was invited to attend TVB’s recent hit drama, Divas in Distress, promotional event. It was such an honour because the Director, Poon Katak had shared many of his on-set experiences involving the ups and downs whilst directing the Drama. This talk would have greatly benefited our IAFT students knowing the dos and don’ts whilst being on-set. Allow me to briefly talk about what the drama is about. The TVB drama Divas in Distress <巴不得媽媽…>, explores the themes of rivalry and revenge – but comically. Starring Liza Wang and Gigi Wong, their first collaboration in thirty years, Divas in Distress is about how Liza and Gigi, portraying two popular television actresses in the seventies, grow to dislike each other after various misunderstandings. Thirty years later, Gigi’s son, Chin Ka Lok falls in love with Liza’s daughter, Yam, and has a son, Michel, with her. However, Yam dies from childbirth, and Liza holds a grudge against Chin Ka Lok and his family ever since.

On the day, the cast members revealed an average rating of 30 points and peaked at 35 points with approximately 1.92 million viewers per episode. This drama surely was a great success and is recommended to watch if you are into Hong Kong comical Drama series.
