50/50 FILMMAKING SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The International Academy of Film & Television has created the 50/50 Scholarship Program to provide qualifying students enrolling in our Diploma Program in Filmmaking and our Certificate Program in Filmmaking with partial financial assistance with tuition costs.  Fifty scholarships are available for Diploma Program in Filmmaking applicants and 50 scholarships for Certificate Program in Filmmaking applicants during the 2013 calendar year.  Qualifying students can receive scholarship support equaling up to 50% of the program’s tuition.  All prospective filmmaking students are encouraged to apply.

Qualification for the 50/50 Scholarship will be based on the applying student’s financial need, prior academic merit or achievement, and the student’s filmmaking career goals.  An internal IAFT committee will review the application materials provided by students to determine scholarship winners and the amounts granted.  To qualify, a student must provide evidence of the following:

  1. A high level of motivation to train for a career in the film industry;
  2. A minimum GPA of 2.50 from the last school graduated from; and
  3. Household earnings under $40,000 per year.

Interested students should submit to the Director of Admissions a completed scholarship application form and include the following items:

  1. Official transcript from last school completed with GPA.
  2. Prior year federal income tax form indicating household income for the student, if independent, or head of household, if dependent.

Scholarship applications and all supporting documents must be received by the IAFT before the start of the term.  All materials must be received for application review to proceed.  Each applicant will be notified in writing within 14 days after their application has been received whether an award has been granted.  The number of scholarships is limited and students are encouraged not to delay.

Terms & Conditions:

  1. The student receiving the scholarship must complete the filmmaking program within one year.
  2. The scholarship cannot be transferred to any other IAFT program.
  3. The scholarship must be applied to the filmmaking programs offered in Burbank, CA.
  4. The student receiving the scholarship will be expected to maintain the same satisfactory academic standing expected for all IAFT students as outlined in the catalog.  Satisfactory academic standing is achieved when a student maintains a minimum grade average of 70% per term, completes all required assignments, and attends at least 80% of class and lab sessions.
  5. Scholarships will be withdrawn from students placed on academic or attendance probation.  Scholarships will be restored when probation period ends and student returns to satisfactory academic standing.
